Distilling an old tradition into a new drink
ZIMA / Evrosad
The story of ZIMA dates back to 1965, when grandad of one of our members started distilling spirits from homegrown pears. This admiration for fruit later grew into an orchard that lies under the Alps by the Adriatic Sea, once belonging to a Yugoslavian fruit cooperative. While fresh fruits became the main product, every winter they would take time to produce something far more delicate – A spirit made from finest Williams pears, Viljamovka. This is also where the name comes from, ZIMA meaning winter and cold in Slavic languages. In 2016 after gaining experience from Flaviar in the spirits industry, we rediscovered the drink and joined forces with Evrosad to create finest traditional Slovenian drinks, inspired by local tradition and a vision to make them available worldwide.
